PROJECTS

At Unnati Foundation, our projects are not one-time interventions—they are structured frameworks designed to address systemic gaps in enterprise development across Sikkim and the North-Eastern region of India. Each project responds to a specific challenge faced by entrepreneurs, farmers, producer groups, and institutions, and offers end-to-end, handholding support tailored to the realities of mountain and remote regions.

Together, these frameworks form a continuum—supporting individuals and enterprises from idea stage to scale, from scheme access to market integration, and from small self-employment initiatives to high-investment ventures.

Enabling Access to Government Schemes

Accessing government schemes can often feel like navigating a maze—marked by complex paperwork, unclear guidelines, and technical processes that overwhelm even the most motivated entrepreneur. For aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs in Sikkim and the North-East, these challenges are compounded by geographical remoteness and limited access to reliable institutional support.

Project Unnati Scheme Mitra was launched to bridge this critical gap.

Under this framework, Unnati Foundation empowers individuals, enterprises, FPOs, and producer groups to understand, access, and effectively implement the Government of India’s Unnati Scheme and allied programmes. Our support spans the entire lifecycle of scheme engagement—from awareness and eligibility assessment to implementation and claim submission.

Key areas of support include:

  • Awareness and orientation on scheme objectives and benefits
  • Eligibility assessment and enterprise alignment
  • Registration and documentation support
  • DPR preparation and technical guidance
  • Handholding during project implementation
  • Assistance with claim filing and post-implementation compliance

Through Project Unnati Scheme Mitra, we ensure that schemes translate into real, on-ground outcomes, enabling communities to access public resources with confidence and clarity.

Nurturing Grassroots Entrepreneurship & Self-Reliance

Across rural and semi-urban areas of Sikkim and the North-East, there is immense untapped entrepreneurial potential—particularly among women and youth. While aspirations are strong, many individuals lack the technical know-how, planning support, and ecosystem access required to transform ideas into viable livelihoods.

Project Udyog Mitra is Unnati Foundation’s response to this challenge.

This initiative supports small businesses and self-employment ventures across diverse sectors—such as homestays, dairy farming, mushroom cultivation, handicrafts, tourism and allied services. The focus is on helping individuals start small, grow steadily, and become truly self-reliant (Atmanirbhar).

What Project Udyog Mitra offers:

  • Idea validation and livelihood planning
  • Basic business planning and costing
  • Guidance on licenses, registrations and local compliance
  • Skill-building and capacity development
  • Market linkage and visibility support
  • Mentorship during early-stage operations

By combining simplicity with structure, Project Udyog Mitra enables aspiring entrepreneurs to build dignified, locally rooted livelihoods that strengthen household incomes and community economies.

Accelerating Early-Stage Startups

In today’s competitive entrepreneurial landscape, a good idea alone is no longer enough. Early-stage startups must demonstrate clarity, structure, validation, and readiness to attract investors and partners.

Project Startup Lightspeed is designed to help early-stage entrepreneurs accelerate their journey from concept to investable venture through practical, hands-on support.

This initiative addresses a critical ecosystem gap in Sikkim and the North-East, where talented founders often lack access to structured mentorship, exposure, and investor networks.

Project Startup Lightspeed supports entrepreneurs with:

  • Business model refinement and validation
  • Market research and customer discovery
  • Pitch deck and investment readiness preparation
  • Legal, financial, and compliance basics
  • Strategic mentoring and milestone planning
  • Connections to mentors, ecosystem partners, and networks

Startup Lightspeed equips founders to face early-stage challenges swiftly and strategically, helping them build ventures that are credible, resilient, and scalable.

Strategic Support for High-Investment Enterprises

Large-scale enterprises involve high stakes—where delays, inefficiencies, and procedural bottlenecks can significantly impact costs and outcomes. Recognising this, Unnati Foundation launched Project Big Business, a dedicated framework to support high-investment ventures (₹10 crore and above) with speed, structure, and strategic oversight.

Project Big Business is designed for promoters and enterprises that require precision planning, rapid execution, and multi-stakeholder coordination, particularly in regions like Sikkim and the North-East where access to structured advisory support is limited.

The framework focuses on:

  • Strategic project planning and phasing
  • DPR development and financial structuring
  • Regulatory and compliance navigation
  • Coordination with government departments and agencies
  • Execution timelines and risk mitigation
  • Market-readiness and operational stabilisation

Whether supporting a small farmer accessing a government scheme, a woman-led livelihood initiative, a high-investment enterprise, or a young startup founder, Unnati Foundation remains focused on one goal: building sustainable enterprises that strengthen local economies and create lasting impact across Sikkim and the North-East.
