Project Unnati Mitra

Bridging the Knowledge Gap for Government Scheme Access and Implementation.

How will we work?

Accessing government schemes can often feel like a maze—full of confusing paperwork, unclear guidelines, and technical processes that overwhelm even the most motivated entrepreneur. This is especially true for aspiring and early-stage business owners from the remote regions of Sikkim and the North-East, who face a double barrier: lack of information and lack of support.

To address this pressing gap, Unnati Foundation has launched Project Unnati Scheme Mitra—an initiative that empowers people to understand, access, and implement the Government of India’s Unnati scheme effectively. From helping with registration on the portal to enabling smooth claim submission after project implementation, we stand beside individuals and enterprises every step of the way.

We conduct awareness sessions, camps, and digital outreach across rural and urban areas in Sikkim and the North-East to introduce people to the Unnati scheme. We explain:

  • Who is eligible

  • What kind of projects can be registered

  • What are the benefits

  • The overall registration and claim process

Registering on a government portal can be intimidating, especially for first-timers. Through our initiative:

  • We help individuals prepare the required documents

  • Guide them in creating their profiles on the Unnati portal

  • Ensure accurate data entry and avoid common application mistakes

  • Assist in uploading necessary approvals, licenses, and project plans

  • Provide troubleshooting help in case of technical glitches

Many applicants fail at the claims stage due to incomplete or improper documentation. We provide a checklist of requirements and help ensure:

  • Invoices, bills, and contracts are in order

  • GST and registration certificates are valid

  • Implementation reports and photographic evidence are correctly compiled

All records are maintained in a ready-to-submit format

After a project has been implemented, we assist in:

  • Filing the correct forms for claim submission

  • Uploading proof of project execution

  • Following up with the concerned authorities

  • Resolving rejections or objections, if any

  • Ensuring the subsidy or reimbursement is received in a timely manner

Our goal is to ensure that no project loses out on benefits due to ignorance or small errors.

To make this support scalable and accessible, we’ve created a series of YouTube video tutorials and guides that explain:

  • The Unnati scheme in simple language

  • Portal walkthroughs

  • How to fill and upload documents

Why Project Unnati Scheme Mitra?

The Unnati scheme, a major initiative by the Government of India to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance, offers vital support in the form of subsidies, grants, or reimbursements for approved business projects. However, the real challenge lies not in the unavailability of the scheme—but in the lack of understanding of how to benefit from it.

Most people, particularly in the Sikkim and the North-East:

  • Are unaware of the scheme and its provisions
  • Do not know how to register their projects online
  • Struggle with documentation and compliance requirements
  • Are unable to file claims post-implementation due to errors or lack of follow-up
  • Do not have a single source of clear, simplified guidance

This is where Project Unnati Scheme Mitra steps in as a handholding partner, guiding people through the entire process—from awareness to implementation and claims.

Who We Serve?

Who We Serve?

Project Unnati Scheme Mitra is especially designed for:

  • Youth and women entrepreneurs in semi-urban and rural regions
  • Farmers and agri-entrepreneurs starting value-added ventures
  • Hospitality and tourism operators (homestays, travel guides, food units)
  • Small manufacturers and service providers
  • NGOs and SHGs setting up community-based ventures

We follow a sector-agnostic approach, meaning we support eligible ventures across domains—dairy, handicrafts, technology, food processing, and more.

Our Impact and Vision

Since its launch, Project Unnati Scheme Mitra has helped:

  • Dozens of individuals successfully register their projects on the Unnati portal
  • Multiple entrepreneurs complete the claim process and receive government support
  • Hundreds more gain the confidence to apply, knowing they have a reliable partner

Over the next two years, our goal is to support 1,000+ entrepreneurs from the North-East in accessing government schemes, so they don’t miss out due to lack of technical knowledge or platform barriers.

A Step Toward True Empowerment

Unnati Scheme Mitra is more than a project—it’s a movement to democratize access to government support for all. We believe that equity in opportunity begins with equity in information and access.

At Unnati Foundation, we’re here to ensure that no deserving entrepreneur is left behind, and every promising idea gets the push it needs—because sometimes, all it takes is a little help to make a big difference.
