Project Udyog Mitra

Your Partner in Grassroots Entrepreneurship and Self-Reliance.

How will we work?

In the vast rural and semi-urban stretches of India—particularly in regions like Sikkim and the North-East—there is immense untapped potential for local entrepreneurship. Many individuals, especially women and youth, are eager to earn a living, build a future, and contribute to their communities, but they often lack the know-how, support systems, and financial access to turn that aspiration into reality.

Project Udyog Mitra by Unnati Foundation is designed to change that. It is a comprehensive initiative aimed at nurturing small businesses and self-employment ventures across a range of sectors. Whether it’s a food stall, homestay, dairy farm, or tour guiding service, we help individuals start small, grow steadily, and become truly “Atmanirbhar”—self-reliant and self-sustaining.

To address this pressing gap, Unnati Foundation has launched Project Unnati Scheme Mitra—an initiative that empowers people to understand, access, and implement the Government of India’s Unnati scheme effectively. From helping with registration on the portal to enabling smooth claim submission after project implementation, we stand beside individuals and enterprises every step of the way.

We equip small business owners with the right knowledge, tools, and support—so they can:

  • Understand the basic requirements of running a business

  • Access funding through loans or schemes
  • Manage and grow their ventures successfully
  • Repay loans while also earning a steady income

It’s not just about launching businesses—it’s about sustained livelihoods, community growth, and local economic strength.

Sector-Agnostic, Region-Focused

Project Udyog Mitra is open to any small business idea across multiple sectors. We support ventures in:

  • Animal Husbandry – poultry farms, goat rearing, piggery units
  • Agriculture & Horticulture – organic vegetable farming, spice cultivation, floriculture
  • Dairy Enterprises – milk collection centers, paneer and ghee production
  • Food Processing – pickles, jams, snacks, local delicacies
  • Small Restaurants and Cafes
  • Homestays and Eco-Tourism
  • Tour & Travel Businesses – local guides, transport operators
  • Tailoring, Handicrafts, and Home-Based Work

We tailor support according to the business type, scale, local demand, and individual capabilities of the entrepreneur.

Most people, particularly in the Sikkim and the North-East:

  • Are unaware of the scheme and its provisions
  • Do not know how to register their projects online
  • Struggle with documentation and compliance requirements
  • Are unable to file claims post-implementation due to errors or lack of follow-up
  • Do not have a single source of clear, simplified guidance

This is where Project Unnati Scheme Mitra steps in as a handholding partner, guiding people through the entire process—from awareness to implementation and claims.

Special Focus on Women and Youth

Udyog Mitra places strong emphasis on women-led and youth-driven businesses, as they are key to transforming households and villages into micro-economies. We create safe spaces for:

  • Women’s collectives to run production units
  • Youth to become local service providers (like guides, food delivery, digital kiosks)

Returnee migrants to reintegrate through entrepreneurship.

Atmanirbharta, One Step at a Time

Self-reliance isn’t about mega-factories—it starts with a family-run eatery that feeds a neighborhood, a homestay that hosts trekkers, or a mushroom unit that supplies to the local market. Through Project Udyog Mitra, we make these dreams accessible, achievable, and sustainable.

We envision a future where hundreds of micro-entrepreneurs in Sikkim and the North-East are:

  • Running legally compliant, income-generating businesses
  • Proudly repaying loans through profits
  • Creating jobs within their communities
  • Living with dignity, independence, and pride

Together, Let’s Build Grassroots Entrepreneurs

At Unnati Foundation, we believe every small business is a big step toward transformation. Project Udyog Mitra is not just about businesses—it’s about building confidence, income, and identity among those who need it most.

If you have the will, we have the way. Let’s get started.
